ToggleAt Lacor Textil, we continue taking firm steps toward becoming a more responsible, sustainable, and socially committed company. Aware that every action counts, we have implemented new initiatives to facilitate recycling and reduce our environmental impact.
We now have new recycling points at our facilities: a used clothing container in collaboration with Cáritas and its Moda re- project; a recycling container for Panter safety footwear; and a collection point for used batteries.
In collaboration with Cáritas Spain, we joined the Moda re- project, a non-profit social initiative cooperative that fully manages the used clothing cycle. Its work is based on a circular economy model, with both environmental and social benefits.
The collected clothing receives the best possible treatment according to the waste hierarchy, thus avoiding landfills and promoting a more sustainable model. At the same time, this process promotes the employment of people in situations of or at risk of social exclusion, supporting them in their training and professional development.
At the same time, families without resources are served with dignity through social donations, and more conscious and responsible consumption is promoted through a network of more than 175 modern and accessible secondhand shops throughout Spain.
Another of our sustainable initiatives is the installation of a recycling bin for Panter work shoes, in line with the Recycle Panter project, which promotes the reuse of footwear materials once their useful life has ended.
Through an innovative recycling process, Panter shoes are transformed into secondary materials that are reintroduced into the production chain, thus reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators.
Why is it so important?
A safety shoe can take up to 200 years to decompose, and when discarded in the trash, it releases plastics, heavy metals, and toxic chemicals that pollute the environment. In 2022, more than 90% of footwear waste ended up in landfills or was incinerated, exacerbating the environmental impact.
This type of waste not only harms the environment but also contributes to the increase in respiratory illnesses, allergies, and greenhouse gas emissions. Recicla Panter allows each shoe to be given a second or third life, promoting a real and effective circular economy.
We’ve also set up a collection point for used batteries, a highly polluting waste product if not managed properly. Batteries contain heavy metals that can contaminate large amounts of water and soil, so proper recycling is key to protecting the health of the planet and people.
These measures are just one step toward a cleaner, fairer, and more conscious future. At Lacor Textil, we believe in a way of working that respects the environment, drives change, and creates opportunities for people.
Every gesture counts. Every action counts.
