Getting to know the new members of the team also reminds us of where we want to continue growing as a company. Today we introduce you to Óscar Catalán: he’s 23 years old, studying Industrial Organization, and has been selected for the Talento Aragón Joven 2025 program, an initiative that supports those just starting out in the professional world.
We invite you to discover who Óscar is, what drives him, and how he’s experiencing this new phase he’s just begun with us.
For those who don’t know you, how would you introduce yourself in one sentence?
I’m an attentive young man, eager to learn, and always willing to give my best.
What did you study, and what led you to choose that career?
I studied Industrial Organization Engineering. At first, I was unsure which path to follow, but I was clear that I wanted to pursue engineering. I’ve always been drawn to the industrial environment and, above all, to understanding how things work in order to improve them. I’m highly motivated by tackling real problems and finding effective solutions that make a difference in everyday life.
How did you find out about the Talento Aragón Joven 2025 program?
I learned about it through a friend from university. She spoke highly of the program, and I thought, “Why not give it a try?” and it’s been quite a discovery.
What was the selection process like, and what moment do you remember most vividly?
It was quite a demanding process: around 500 people started, and after passing various tests, only 50 made it to the end. Without a doubt, what I remember most vividly were the three days we spent at the hotel. We spent time from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. conducting soft skills workshops that not only provided me with many tools for my professional development but also enriched me on a personal level. They were intense but invaluable days. I also made friends that I still maintain today, and that’s something I’ll always remember from the program.
How did you feel when you found out you had been chosen?
When they told me I had been selected, I was thrilled. Several companies called me for interviews, but from the very beginning, something particularly attracted me to Lacor Textil. It wasn’t the most well-known option, but when I met Gorka Calderón, the Human Resources Director, everything changed. He conveyed a sense of warmth to me, made me feel very comfortable, and passionately explained everything the company does. From that moment on, I knew this was where I wanted to be. So, when I found out I’d be starting at Lacor, it was very exciting.
What attracted you most to Lacor Textil before joining?
What struck me most was that it’s a growing company, evolving significantly in recent years. Furthermore, the roles they offered me were a perfect fit with what I want to experience and learn for my future career. I felt it was a perfect opportunity to develop in the direction I want as a professional.
What was your first impression of the team and the work environment?
Incredible. My first impression was during a company-wide training event, and it couldn’t have been better. I had fun, learned a lot, and, above all, met many of my current colleagues. From the very beginning, I felt a very positive energy and a close atmosphere, and I couldn’t be happier with the feeling the entire team conveys.
How are you approaching this new professional stage?
I’m approaching it with great enthusiasm and excitement. For me, it’s an opportunity to prove my worth in this industry, to grow both personally and professionally, and to start building the future I want.
What would you like to learn or achieve during your time here?
I would like to learn to lead teams effectively, to become a person others can trust and rely on. I want to gain autonomy, feel useful in my daily life, and know that my work adds value. Above all, I want to leave this experience feeling like I’ve truly contributed and helped.
Do you have any person or experience that has particularly inspired you along the way?
I wouldn’t say there’s a specific person, but I do have one experience that has greatly influenced my personality: being a soccer referee. I’ve been refereeing at the regional level in Aragon for some time, and I think this has helped me develop skills such as leadership, decision-making under pressure, and a commitment to fairness and a job well done. It has also taught me to value not only the end result, which often depends on external factors, but above all the process, the effort, and the way things are done.
What message would you like to give to those, like you, just starting out on their professional journey?
I would tell them not to close their doors. Sometimes we have a very specific idea of what we want, but there are endless opportunities and companies that can surprise us and help us grow beyond our wildest dreams. It’s important to be flexible, open-minded, and, above all, never stop learning.
Here, we believe that a company isn’t just there to teach you, but also to be immersed in what each new person brings. Because each new addition adds a different way of seeing, doing, and understanding things. And that’s where we also grow as a team.
With all this, we welcome Óscar to Lacor Textil. We wish you a period filled with learning and achievements.
